Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn’t involve physical harm.
Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn't involve physical harm. It's not the objective facts that determine whether an event is traumatic, but your subjective emotional experience of the event. The more frightened and helpless you feel, the more likely you are to be traumatised.
Experiencing trauma in some shape or form is a fact of modern life. Most of us have been traumatised in one way or another. The source and consequences of trauma are extensive and often hidden from our awareness. These can include feelings of loss resulting from; natural disasters; exposure to violence; accidents; falls; serious illnesses; medical and dental procedures; difficult births and even high levels of stress during pregnancy or the loss of a loved one.
Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, leaving you feeling helpless and vulnerable in a dangerous world.
Panic attacks / reactions can be a symptomatic response to trauma and loss. I believe that we have the potential as humans to overcome great diversity. Counselling provides a space to help you identify particular thoughts that can trigger a panic reaction, so you feel less overwhelmed and more able to control panic attacks, so you no longer fear them.

Feelings of depression usually, but not always, stem from a build up of stress and anxiety.
Stress and anxiety by and large, involves too much: too many pressures that demand too much of you physically and psychologically. Stressed people can still imagine though, that if they can just get everything under control, they'll feel better. Stress can develop as a response to any situation or thought that upsets you. read more ...
Everyone has arguments and everyone disagrees with their partners, family members and others close to them from time to time. We all do things at times which cause unhappiness to those we care about and of course we regret. When this begins to form a consistent pattern, then it may be an indication of domestic violence.
Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse, psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional between adults who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality, is very often considered domestic abuse. read more ...
